Simple and unassuming at first glance, this wide sterling silver ring has a secret hidden inside: a hand-engraved depiction of The Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife, Hokusai’s infamous 1814 woodblock print.
I made the original for a friend who was inspired by Victorian jewellery that conceal risqué or humorous motifs behind a modest exterior. It’s a surprisingly divisive piece of jewellery, some people love it, some hate it, and some find it hilarious. Ideal really.
Entirely made using traditional techniques, each ring is handmade, and hand engraved bespoke, by me. This means that, as I make it, I can add customisations for you such as initials hand engraved in monogram style on the outside. If you would like a customisation outside of the listed options, please email me and we can discuss it.
Hand cut from a 0.8mm sheet, I’m offering the options to have one made in solid Sterling Silver, 9ct Yellow Gold and 18ct Yellow Gold.
